Bibles
The Bible was not written for children. However the Church is clear that, in Religious Eduation, children should have as much conact with the actual text as possible. The reasons for this are self evident: if you want pupils to learn about and from the story of God's vision for humanity they need to hear what the sacred writers wrote, not someone else's interpretation of their words. The question is one of which translation is most accessible to pupils.

Year C (during which we read from the Gospel of Luke) contains most of the well known passages from Luke's Gospel.

- Use the Gospel of the Year if you can. This will enable pupils to 'connect' passages as you teach them and become familiar with one writer's style.
- Put the passage you are teaching on the IWB and work through it together.
